WHAT DOES ETHICAL ART MEAN?

Environmentally conscious and Socially responsible art

art For the CHANGE

The vision of Vegesent as a brand was always how much good can we do through it.

We have taken pride in upholding the fundamental principles upon which our organization was founded, which are environmental responsibility, support of animal welfare initiatives and business behavior, promotion of human rights, wellbeing and diversity.

Vegesent is a small private business. Every art piece is uniquely handmade in Helsinki studio by the vegan artist behind creative artwork and our fully vegan consultant team.

Small size production allows us to trace every step of creation of an artwork standing strong on our values of cruelty-free, responsible production of the highest quality art.

THE HIDDEN SIDE

Because the art and design industry is relatively small compared to other industries, and as such, it may not receive as much attention from the media and the public, many people still do not realize the extent of the impact that choice of the art materials and production behavior have on the environment and human health.

✖ Pollution

Disposing of paint and related materials is challenging and requires special handling. Irresponsible disposal leads to environmental damage and pollution.

✖ Slavery

Cheap art materials are broadly made with violating workers’ rights and human rights. In sweatshops workers are paid extremely low wages, getting poor treatment and conditions.

✖ Cruelty

Animal derivatives are traditional and common in art supplies. Mainly produced in countries without nationwide laws that prohibit the mistreatment of animals. Most paint manufacturers also conduct animal testing.

✖ Unsafe

Reproductions, prints and cheaper paintings commonly encountered hazardous chemicals in paint and related products, including lead, cadmium, chromium, formaldehyde and solvents. Having these toxic metals and chemicals in your surroundings causes lung damage, allergic reactions, and other health problems.

Sourcing of materials

Some paints contain pigments that are sourced from materials that were obtained through environmentally destructive or exploitative practices. For example, certain pigments may be derived from minerals that were mined using child labor or other forms of exploitation.

right WAY

Our values come to life and make a tangible impact on the world through our unwavering commitment to taking action and investing dedicated hard work.

We believe that it is not enough to simply hold values; it is the active implementation of these values that brings about real change. By translating our beliefs into concrete actions, we strive to create a positive and lasting difference in the lives of individuals, communities, and the environment.

We understand that true transformation requires effort and persistence, and we are determined to go the extra mile to turn our vision into reality. Through our unwavering dedication, we aim to inspire others to join us in creating a better and more sustainable future for all.
