conceptual Art as analysis of social systems
Vegesent
I am Veronika a Finland based artist, head of sustainable development and art education in Helsinki International Artists Association.
Vegesent is a research-based conceptual art practice investigating how societies produce invisibility, using production animals as a lens through which broader structures of ethics, perception, and power become visible.
Through material reduction, scientific research, and metaphor, the work makes socially hidden realities available for observation.

“I am utterly amazed by the extraordinary talent of this artist, which has completely changed the way I see and appreciate art.
I greatly admire that many pieces serve as a call to action, shedding light on significant issues caused by human activities. From the degradation of land to the alarming rise in global temperatures due to the burning of fossil fuels and animal agriculture, this artist’s work serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need for change. ”
Mission
My mission is to investigate how visibility is organized within contemporary society and how ethical distance is produced through the social organization of what is seen and what remains unseen.
Working through the lens of animal visibility, I combine scientific research with my lived experience of growing up on a livestock farm, where slaughter was part of everyday life and indifference was normalized as a social form. This intersection of research and personal experience shapes the questions that drive my practice.
Through research, material reduction, and conceptual abstraction, I translate socially hidden realities into tactile forms that invite observation rather than instruction.
The work creates encounters in which scientific knowledge, material history, and lived experience can be considered together, opening space to examine how societies construct visibility, normalize absence, and shape relationships between human and non-human life.
