Vegesent

Veronika Kvitko, known as Vegesent, is a Finland-based multidisciplinary artist whose work centers on sustainability, ethics, and the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment.

Her artistic foundation began with an eight-year scholarship at the Aesthetic School of Visual and Performing Arts. Over the years, she has worked across digital media, contemporary illustration, photography, and mixed media painting, eventually developing her signature practice: minimalist tactile abstractions created with natural pigments, biodegradable materials, and upcycled urban waste.

Her art has sparked global conversations about environmental awareness and violence against animals, earning the Vegan Choice Award (2024) and a position as Vice Chairperson of the Helsinki International Artists Association.
Her work has been shown at Helsinki’s Cable Factory, Helsinki City Museum, and published internationally in books and magazines including 100 Artists of Europe.

ESR — Ethical Seafood Research

ESR is a nonprofit dedicated to improving aquatic animal welfare, especially in the Global South. Their work includes:

Peer-Reviewed Research
High-level publications and conference presentations advancing aquatic welfare science.

Education & Training
Workshops and training programs that help farmers and communities adopt humane aquaculture practices.

Welfare Assessments
Farm assessments grounded in existing scientific knowledge, filling major research gaps in aquatic animal welfare.

Institutional Change
Collaborating with international organizations and government actors to set higher welfare standards across entire regions.

Together, Vegesent and ESR unite art, research, and action to bring visibility to the often-overlooked suffering of fishes.

Your clicks help Ethical Seafood Research launch a new training for future Fish Welfare Agents working directly with small fish farms in Kenya, where access to information on how to improve fish welfare is minimal.

This project matters because:

• fish are the most farmed vertebrates on the planet
• their welfare receives the least attention globally
• farmers often lack access to humane, science-driven practices
• improving welfare reduces suffering, improves livelihoods and strengthens entire food systems

By taking part, you support practical, on-the-ground change where it’s needed most.
