The attractive quality of gold color represents how fast fashion attracts consumers with trendy, low-cost items, despite environmental consequences.

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is largely due to the rise of "fast fashion" - cheap, trend-driven clothing that encourages overconsumption and waste.

The average person now buys 60% more clothing items per year compared to 2000, yet each garment is kept for half as long. This insatiable demand fuels the mass production of textiles, which is an incredibly resource-intensive process.

Textile manufacturing uses as much oil per year as the entire country of Switzerland for over 25 years  and consumes equivalent to over 10 years' worth of drinking water for the entire population of the United States yearly. Alarmingly, over 85% of all textiles end up in landfills or are incinerated every year.

Slowing the churn of fast fashion is critical to reducing the industry's staggering climate impact. By making more conscious clothing choices, we can shrink our environmental footprint and drive the fashion world towards a more sustainable future.
