CONCEPT:

Silver is the coldness of an industrial system that turns living bodies into production units.

Industrial animal agriculture is a principal driver of the climate crisis, producing greenhouse-gas emissions on a scale comparable to the global transportation sector. Yet its role in climate change remains under-discussed: animal agriculture is mentioned in only 4% of media publications addressing the crisis, while 90% of animals raised for food are kept and slaughtered inside closed facilities.

The work is a dense silver relief contained within a frame. Its uneven surface catches and reflects light, recalling the surfaces of industrial animal agriculture facilities. The silver brings together the appearance of machinery, infrastructure, and the treatment of living bodies as units within a production system.

The work opens up the cultural taboo on naming animal agriculture as a climate driver, its absence from media coverage, and the closed facility as the structures that keep it seen as food rather than as a climate system.
