Concept:
The work researches on cattle, soy, food industry and supply chains leading to Amazon biosystems degradation.
The Amazon basin has been the world's largest continuous deforestation frontier over the past fifty years, with cattle ranching as the dominant driver.
Around 20% of Amazonian forests have been replaced by pastures and croplands during this period.
Built from upcycled materials the work takes the contour of South America with "sustainable beef" claim. The form and the label are connected: the form shows where deforestation, biodiversity loss, and environmental destruction happen; the label names the industry that drives it.
The work opens up production, processing, trade, and globalization as the structure that signs 'sustainable beef' on the geography it takes.
