Art description: Two versions of the same road. One is imaginary, another is reality.
The silver version evokes the romanticized road, a journey beneath a star-filled sky. The red version is the transport from production facility to slaughterhouse, the last road millions of production animals travel.
Each year, two to three million production animals arrive at slaughterhouses already dead as a result of transport-related stress, overcrowding, extreme weather, injuries, or neglect.
The work is built from shipping tubes, the long cardboard cylinders that carry rolled prints. The tube is the road: a hollow path built to move a wrapped object from one place to another, in one direction.
The social structure addressed in this work is parallel realities. The real one is invisible, the imaginary one is culturally celebrated.
